Hiatus is over

I guess I was on a blog posting hiatus. Stuff to write about, just no time to sit and do it. We've had some fun outings mixed in with an urgent care visit as well as new Jack sleeping revelations.
Might as well start out with Jack. He is currently taking his anti-reflux med and as of last week is sleeping in the crib, flat on his back for naptime and nighttime. That seems like such a victory at this point, but it doesn't mean he sleeps through the night. Oh no no....far from it. But at least he will sleep at stretches...with only some slight whimpers that just require a Nuk reinsertion for continued slumber. He eats 1-2 times a night and overall just seems better. Either that or I'm just getting accustomed to it and it feels normal to me now. Another thing to note is I have now weaned Jack and he is completely on formula. It was a decision I wrestled with for quite a while. Breastfeeding was going well, but I just didn't know how much he was getting. He still wanted to eat every 2-3 hours through the day and night. Of course I feel the maternal guilt of not giving him the best thing, but I also needed to get some sanity back. I justified it to myself that he got 5 months of breastmilk and that's gotta be good enough at this point. It feels so great to finally have my own body back after over a year of watching what I ate and drank wondering how it was going to effect him. Now I can drink Diet Mt Dew to my hearts content and know that I am only hurting myself with all the caffeine and aspartame and not some little person too.
Onto the Urgent Care visit, since I've left you hanging long enough. It was actually Chris that went. Jack is really grabby and "handsy" these days and gave Chris a nice scratch to the eyeball on Monday. It was a rough couple days around here with Chris being unable to see and also in a great deal of pain. He's doing better and only has slight blurriness in that eye now.
In general, we've had a busy couple weeks. Our time has been littered with daycare Spring Programs, softball games, soccer games, a Sassy Cow Creamery and farm visit, and multiple bbqs. It's enjoyable and I can foresee the summer coming and going in the blink of an eye. We need to try and enjoy every speck of warm weather we possibly can.
The first couple pictures below are at one of Chris' softball games. One is actually a scenery picture not a kid related one. Shocking I know. The middle ones are from our Sassy Cow Creamery visit. So glad the Nacks invited us along on this adventure. The kids were able to "milk" a fake cow, Mike was part of an ice cream eating contest, and Will was allowed to annoy hundreds of cows with his relentless urge to pet them all. The last pic is of Will's soccer team. He was not being cooperative and wouldn't stand by the rest of his team. Instead he was back in the goal, hanging from the net.
Till the next time I find a minute to post...toodles and have a great Memorial Day weekend!

The Rules

Mike and Will keep coming up with really fascinating things to do around the house. Most of them include using "white pieces of paper" to draw maps, books, pictures, etc. Well a couple days ago Mike decided he was going to use the paper to write rules for the house. This included drawing a picture for every rule, showing a stick person doing the rule with an "x" through them. Then he and Will hung them all over the house.  Some rules are reasonable, some are just ridiculous.
I have included the whole list of 16 (as dictated by Mike) so you can add a little humor in your day:
1. No reading books when there is a fire
2. No hitting computers
3. No hitting Zach (Zach is Mike's "pet" pterodactyl)
4. No smelling the flowers because you might tip it over
5. No tieing your feet
6. Never stand on the stools to get on the counter
7. No hitting the cabinets
8. No stuffed animals on the first floor
9. No playing on the first floor
10. No farting on someone  else
11. No standing on the rocking chair
12. No dancing on the first floor
13. Always do your jobs when someone asks you
14. No shooting "blazer" guns in Mater the fish's tank
15. No pooping on the floor
16. No sliding down the stairs cause you might hit your head on the last step

Amazing what little minds can come up with.

The boys both had soccer today. It was windy and not the warmest so Chris took each boy to their respective games. I missed seeing the boys in action, but it was also kind of nice to not have to get Jack all packed up for the games. Speaking of the Jackster. I started the Ranitidine (reflux med) last Tuesday. Apparently I should be able to tell a big difference in a week's time, so far nothing earth shattering has changed. He is back to sleeping 3 hours at a time so I should, at least, be thankful for that.
Katelyn came to visit on Saturday. We always love having her around. Despite the November-like temp we still managed a trip to the zoo.
The pics for this post include the "rule papers"  and pics from the warm weather we had this past week. Hope you had an enjoyable weekend. Thanks for checking in with us!

Damn Ants

We now have ants. Damn little annoying ants. I hate them. I think I'm taking out my frustrations tonight as I spray them with chlorox bleach. It's kind of like my own little punching bag to get out pent up aggression. I was thinking just minutes ago, the ants might push me over the edge. Here I am running on little sleep after working all day, crabby Jack not wanting to go to bed and the boys yelling because they need something in their room.....and then I see that the damn ants are back from last year. Do you see how it can make a person crack at the end of a long day? Ok, maybe as I type this it sounds a little nuts, but just humor me and hate the ants too.
I can move on now. Today was finally a beautiful warm day. The boys took advantage by getting out their new water porcupine for its inaugural spray. Then Chris decided to sit on the deck and teach the boys how to use our old camera. Both were completely enthralled and excited to be allowed to touch something Mommy always told them not to.
Since I haven't written for a number of days I've attached a bunch of recent pictures. The first couple pics show the dandelions I kept getting on Mother's Day and then kept "accidentally" leaving outside. The next ones are from a park we went to at the end of last week. After those, I slipped one of Jack holding his own bottle in there too. Then finally today's shots.
I wasn't going to write a post tonight because there are soooo many other things that I need to do. But you know what I'm glad I did because I'm much more at peace then I was before. The damn ants are still bothering me, but maybe a little less now.

Short one

Our night consisted of double decker tacos, lime popsicles, Mike and Will's homemade rugby game, and a great bedtime conversation with Will. Will decided to talk more about heaven tonight. I think he went on for at least a half an hour. To get the full effect of Will's conversation you have to ask him yourself next time you see him. You won't believe the details. Apparently he shared a bunk bed with God in heaven (God in his whale shark pjs and Will had on hammerheads).  His thoughts are so matter of fact, he had me laughing and crying.
I'm so glad I took the time to listen tonight.
